CHARITABLE WORKS

The values of Freemasonry are based on integrity, kindness, honesty and fairness. Freemasons are taught to practice charity and to care, not only for their own, but also for the community as a whole – both by charitable giving, and by voluntary efforts and works as individuals.
From its earliest days, Freemasonry has been concerned with the care of orphans, the sick and the aged. This work continues today. In addition, large sums are given to national and local charities.
Masonic charity is exercised at every level: individual Lodges make gifts and give aid to their own communi- ties and every Province also gives large sums of money to regional causes. Nationally, our efforts are chan- neled through four main charity organisations:

MASONIC CHARITABLE FOUNDATION

"For Freemasons, for families, for everyone"

Funded entirely through the generosity of Freemasons and their families, the Masonic Charitable Foundation is one of the largest grant-making charities in the country.
Most of the support provided by the Masonic Charitable Foundation takes the form of financial grants to indi- viduals and families to assist with daily living costs. We can also award grants to provide specific items or services.

A range of health and care needs, including medical and dental treatments, counselling and mobility aids or home adaptations are supported, with funding also available for respite, residential, nursing and dementia care.
In addition to the support we provide to Freemasons and their families, the Masonic Charitable Foundation awards millions of pounds each year to local and national charities that help vulnerable people, advance medical research and provide opportunities for young people.

We also help to fund vital services such as hospices and air ambulances and regularly contribute to world- wide appeals for disaster relief. In total, our support helps to improve the lives of thousands of people every year in England, Wales and internationally.

THE FREEMASONS' GRAND CHARITY

"The Freemasons' Grand Charity is dedicated to helping people in need, and has donated over £100 million since 1980."
Each year, The Freemasons' Grand Charity provides relief grants for hundreds of individuals who are experi- encing financial difficulty, as well as donating millions of pounds to nationwide charitable projects and ser- vices.
